BWSurf AE2 Kitesurfing Kite

Following our pursuit of the perfect wave riding kite we made the Noise, Noise Pro and the TDZ, then there was the BWS Aeneema. Now following in that pursuit of the ultimate wave riding machine is the BWSurf AE2 Kitesurfing Kite. Æ2 One step beyond.

After the Æneema’s success, expectations were high to create a better and more advanced wave kite. And although we (and so many kiters around the world) love the Æneema, we still felt that there was much room for improvement.

We wanted to create a wave kite that turns super fast but at the same time keeps the best elements of our early BWSurf Noise models, primarily drift and stability. With the Æ2 we can proudly say we’ve succeeded in this mission. The Æ2 is a complete re-design with a smoother profile and faster turning achieved in part through altering arc shapes through each size. The response on the wave and drift is far greater than any other kite we have made or flown. A tricky combination to achieve but one that delivers a far more user-friendly performance to the rider and will make riding in waves (or landing freestyle tricks) smoother and more achievable for all levels of rider.

Each size of BWSurf AE2 Kitesurfing Kite has been specifically designed for its purpose and wind range (no up or downscaling). The Leading Edges in bigger sizes are lighter and thinner but still hold enough volume for a rigid frame and fast relaunch. Additionally, each kite size has its own specific bridling frame for best performance.

The Æ2 is an incredibly high performance and complete wave kite for ALL conditions and ALL levels.

“Æ2 is the continuation of the Æ1 and has been built for riding in demanding conditions based on my personal experiences. From light summer breezes to intense Typhoons, this kite has seen it all. The new refined SD profile (Smooth Drift) of the kite makes a much smoother power delivery and feeling in the bar while enhancing the turning speed and performance through all areas of the 3D window. Each size has been designed for the specific conditions and is not simply a scale-up of the shape. It has different overall aspect ratios through the range; lower in the smaller and larger sizes while maintaining a medium
aspect through the mid-range for best performance. The Æ2 offers an enhanced sensation while riding the wave yet you don’t know the kite is there. After the first turn for initial setup, the kite will just follow you down the line with absolutely no pull, allowing you to ride the wave. But when needed the kite is super responsive, just sheet in to get around that section and set yourself up for the next lip annihilation! The Æ2 is hands-down the most user-friendly

Features of the BWSurf AE2 Kitesurfing Kite
We started building Æ2 from scratch with all new, premium materials, and high quality finishing for the maximum durability. The graphics on Æ2 are a continuation of Æneema but with far more detailing that compliments its rich finishing. The canopy colors have been exclusively developed for BWSURF so you won’t see them anywhere else.

Featherweight

3 strut lightweight design:
The Æ2 features a super-thin profile with a reduced diameter and lighter LE for fast flying and turning. This lighter canopy design also improves glide and prevents stalling through any lulls or low spots in the wind. Medium thickness struts accommodate the rigid frame for a seamlessly clean canopy shape; no flutters or wrinkles that cause drag.

Custom wingtip design:
A completely new and longer wingtip design for fast pivot turning allows full flow through all turns and NO stalling or dead spots in any area of the window. The BWSurf AE2 Kitesurfing Kite features a stiffer profile which makes the turning and handling of the kite even better than it was before.

Short Bridles

Short bridle frame:
The stable 3-point short surf bridle is compact and has no pulleys and is born from all-new weight distribution technology. Each string is custom-weighted to each point, allowing an even weight distribution when powering the kite on and off. This keeps a truly tight canopy with no distortion. The bridle holds the weight of the kite perfectly when sheeted in, but what happens when you sheet out? Our new bridle’s custom point weight distribution allows the kite’s weight to be distributed evenly through all phases of sheeting.

Canopy DBL Ripstop 50 by Chang-Ho leading Taiwanese manufacturer. All Æ2 canopies are double rip-stop with our custom colors produced exclusively for BWSURF.

Dacron 160DLE is customized extra strength Dacron to hold up to our Surf Proof standards. Used on our LE and struts.

Dacron 3.8 TE by Challenge is our trailing edge reinforcement material. It is specifically designed for stretch resistance, lightweight and abrasion resistance.

210 Gitter an all-new material from the sailing biz that we used in the wingtips. This material stiffens the kite’s frame, improves turning ability, and helps relaunch super fast after a crash in the surf.

FL-14NG 2mm Next Gen bridles are from the German manufacturer Teufelburger, one of the worlds leading line manufacturers. These lines have been tested and shown to have the lowest elongation results of any bridle lines. This equates to better durability, longer lifespan, and higher performance.

Bladders: Our Bladders and their valves are heat welded, not glued which means that will stand up to years of use and will hold up in high temperatures.

Inflation: Original Boston Valve for easy inflate/deflate: compatible with all pumps.

Protectors/Reinforcements/Skuff Guards:

Custom molded Eva Protectors have been added on the LE along the wingtip area preventing wear and tear and ensuring longer durability.
All valve connectors from strut to LE + in/deflate valve have neoprene covers preventing the canopy from wear and tear.
Dacron on the struts as extra protection in the surf – Surf Proof.
Scuff guards: The right scuffs in all the right places. Positioned so your kite will withstand being dragged over rough surfaces without compromising its weight and strength.

Outside pocket including a spare parts kit with canopy and dacron cloth, bladder material & kite repair, spare strut connector, and a beer cozie.
